Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s first Shark Tank investors. To date, she has been in every season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals since February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence was her mother. She was an excellent homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. In times, her family relied upon deliveries of food for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often drank too much and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year.
